The region of Burgenland has many advantages for citizens who are looking for peace: a mild climate, not too far from the capital, relatively low land prices, untouched graceful landscapes. Of course, holiday houses are a part of the transformation of villages in a region with a not quite flourishing economy. A holiday house, built on a height in the hilly part of southern Burgenland, reveals by its linear structure the specific town dweller’s relationship towards a landscape. Broadly speaking, this kind of relationship could be described as looking from a distance (as opposed to a farming, working relationship). The clients, who live in Vienna, searched the area for a long time until they stumbled upon a relatively large and cheap lot with a small proportion of development land.
